What technology project(s) have you worked on that you are most proud of?:

I am very proud of two projects I have been involved in: the Teaching and Learning Symposium and the Education Technology Mini-Series. These events are carried out in collaboration with the UCSF Library's Instructional Design Team and the Teaching Innovations Work Group (TIWG). Both events bring together the education community at UCSF to discuss topics relevant to faculty and staff related to the ever-changing landscape of education and technology. Participants share their teaching strategies and perspectives for transforming learning environments during the symposium and mini-series. These virtual events include discussions, best practice sharing, and learning opportunities for the education community at UCSF. To organize events, we survey faculty and staff to determine their topics of interest, secure presenters, and plan and present sessions. Planning these events requires a lot of effort, but it brings me immense satisfaction to showcase the innovative teaching methods of our faculty and staff. I always look forward to seeing them share their expertise with their colleagues and how they integrate technology to enhance learning. I'm thrilled to announce that I will be organizing a symposium this year, which is scheduled for late August.

How has technology helped you achieve a goal within your role or department?:

Our instructional design team has found a great combination of tools for our remote work - Smartsheets and Mural. Smartsheets has proven to be a fantastic project management tool, allowing us to easily track progress, assign tasks, and monitor deadlines. It's especially useful for complex projects where there are many moving parts. On the other hand, Mural provides a collaborative space where we can share ideas, visualize concepts, and brainstorm together. These two tools have made our collaboration much more efficient and have ultimately increased our productivity

What’s your favorite aspect of your role at UCSF and why?:

Collaborating with colleagues from different schools and departments is my favorite part of my role. It has given me the opportunity to meet people from across various campuses and learn about the great work they are doing.

What’s one ‘fun fact’ about you that not many people know?:

I come from a large Mexican family with a strong musical background. When I visit my family in Mexico, I enjoy singing in Spanish accompanied by a live Mariachi band.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?:

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, as well as exploring different neighborhoods in San Francisco.

If you could learn anything, what would that be?:

I plan to travel to Italy this summer and would love to learn Italian to communicate with the locals.
