One of the projects I’m most proud of is serving as a one of the sponsors of a new enterprise-wide research compliance system that will consolidate three separate platforms into a single, unified solution. This project not only delivers cost savings by reducing service contracts, but also simplifies workflows, enhances user experience, and improves compliance and reporting efficiency for our research community.
Technology is essential to our goal of supporting our people, building better systems, and advancing UCSF’s mission of advancing health worldwide. Whether optimizing financial reporting, deploying internal support systems, or managing research compliance infrastructure, technology enables scalable and sustainable improvements that allow our teams to focus more on strategic priorities and less on administrative burden. I am especially excited about the opportunity that artificial intelligence brings to achieve our goals—we are currently just grazing the surface. There are so many AI-driven tools and solutions we can potentially employ, which makes this a particularly exciting time for innovation and transformation.
I truly enjoy collaborating with diverse teams across UCSF to solve complex problems creatively. Whether it’s launching a new IT platform, supporting faculty recruitment, or reimagining workflows, I love helping our researchers, educators, and clinicians focus on their work by removing operational barriers and building strong infrastructure to support their success. I’m also uniquely positioned in a role where, if I’m doing something right, it impacts and benefits the entire UCSF community—which is both a great responsibility and a deeply rewarding part of my work.
A fun fact about me—though it’s becoming less of a secret—is that I love karaoke. My go-to songs are from the '70s and '80s, and I even sing in Tagalog despite not being fluent. My favorite songs are pretty much anything from the Carpenters.
I’m a big foodie! I love discovering new restaurants around the Bay Area. Some of my favorites are Ernest, Sushi Edomata, and State Bird Provisions. To balance out my foodie adventures, I also play in an adult volleyball league—it keeps me active and is a great way to unwind and stay connected with friends.
I’m currently working on speed reading to help with the volume of materials I review. Long-term, I’d love to learn Japanese. My teenage kids and I are anime fans—my current favorite is Solo Leveling—and it would be great to enjoy the content without subtitles or dubs.
