Cindy Cheng

Name (pronouns):
Cindy Cheng (she/her)
Department/Division:
Radiology and Biomedical Imaging/Events
Years at UCSF:
21
Role in technology:
Technology in my role is designing newsletters/flyers, managing Zoom, basic AV, utilizing various software applications & platforms, maintaining webpages, and hosting in-person events with some AV technical support.
What technology project(s) have you worked on that you are most proud of?:

The project I worked on that I'm proud of is our departmental newsletter. When I started this role three years ago, we created a department newsletter that I helped mold. Although this newsletter is now part of the communications team's project, I feel excited every time I receive it in my inbox knowing I was part of a team who created it.

How has technology helped you achieve a goal within your role or department?:

Zoom helped me successfully execute meetings and events in our department. I learned to use and be proficient in Zoom really quickly in the last three years. I hosted various online events including educational, retirement, social, departmental, and symposiums with breakout sessions. Zoom allowed us to continue providing education to our trainees and faculty, as well as informational and networking opportunities for my colleagues.

What’s your favorite aspect of your role at UCSF and why?:

My favorite part of my role at UCSF is the ability to use different applications and platforms to enhance meetings and events. I enjoy working with and collaborating with my colleagues within and outside of my department. I'm proud to support our faculty, who does amazing clinical and research work, and fortunate that my leadership supports my work and embraces my creativity. UCSF is my community and the people I work with daily are my village.

What’s one ‘fun fact’ about you that not many people know?:

Many people know that I like arts and crafts, but only some know that I paint. My specialty is Chinese brush painting with watercolor on rice paper. My art professor is Mr. Kan Kwok Fan, and his professor is Master Chao Shao-an, who specializes in and is an artist of the Lingnan School of Painting.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?:

When not working, I enjoy arts and crafts and spending time with my family. I enjoy sampling the various eats within the Bay Area and strolls around the neighborhood. I like people and nature watching. I also enjoy lounging at home and indulging in shows occasionally too. :) I also enjoy volunteering. I joined the San Francisco Unified Lions Club to participate in various community activities and fundraisers to give back to our local community.

If you could learn anything, what would that be?:

There's a lot I'd like to learn or learn more of. I'd like to be more proficient in Zoom, AV technical skills, Excel spreadsheets, SmartSheet, Canva, or any design applications.
